Have you tried Pork Biryani before? Check out Meat The Porkers @ Solaris Dutamas
Meat The Porkers is the latest addition for the buzzing food scene in Solaris Dutamas (or Publika for some). It claims to be the 1st non-halal Indian cuisine in Kuala Lumpur, serving Siew Yoke a.k.a. roast pork biryani, 1st of its kind here. Newly opened in mid-November, I only got to try the food there last week not just once but twice! I always on the lookout for good and best Indian restaurants in Kuala Lumpur so I’m glad that this restaurant is located so near my home.
The first time I tried their signature Siew Yoke Biryani, topped with crispy pork cracklings (RM28), Pork Vindaloo (RM28) and Pork Bacon Cheese Naan (RM15) with my sister. I loved the Pork Bacon Cheese Naan the most as it was most flavoursome. The pork biryani is good with lots of fatty roast pork in it but I think I’d prefer the traditional mutton biryani better as mutton still taste better cooked in this way. The only disappointment was the Pork Vindaloo, it was oily and bland, not spicy at all. I think Sid’s Pub does better version of it.
Few days later I took Big Teddy to Meat The Porkers just to try the Tandoori Pork (RM48) and Butter Pork (RM28). We also discovered a very strong beer, Kingfisher Extra Strong which has 8% alcohol content in it. This time around, both the dishes turned out to be great! The Tandoori Pork has lovely smoky taste to it and the meat was cooked to perfection. I loved the Butter Pork too which was tender and tangy with tomato and butter cream all over it. The sauce was perfect to dip the pork bacon cheese naan too.
Overall, Meat The Porkers’ food was good except for the vindaloo. Service was a little hit and misses probably due to the fact that the restaurant was still pretty new (although they used to run the pork free version of the biryani joint, Fiercer by Fierce Curry House few doors away but it was closed down recently).
I do hope this place would last longer as I love this kind of food, and the porky idea made it even more appealing! Also, there are not many Indian food or restaurants in Mont Kiara except for the mamaks. They are also offer food delivery service on Food Panda so sometimes I do order it online when I feel lazy.
