Latest Chinese Restaurant In Kuala Lumpur – Wan Chun Ting at Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara
Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara has so many dining options which include Wan Chun Ting, a Chinese restaurant. Wan Chun Ting, literally means the Ten Thousand Springs Pavilion in Chinese, is the in-house Cantonese and Imperial cuisine restaurant. The restaurant is elegantly designed with high ceiling and beautiful chinese wooden carving partition screen. It also has a specially custom made oven for their signature dish, Peking Duck, roasted over lychee wood to infuse a lovely fragrance to the duck.
Since there were just the 2 of us for lunch, we only ordered some Dim Sum, Soups and the Peking Duck (RM168) where they seperated the crispy skins and the meats to be served in 2 different courses. The Peking Duck is usually served first with its skins and Chinese pancakes, then whatever that’s left will be turned into a meat dish, or cooked as fried rice of noodle, which will then complete the entire dining experience.
The Dim Sum dishes were served first with the Steamed Shrimps Dumplings (RM20), Steamed Chicken Siew Mai with Red Ebikko (RM18) and Steamed Bean Curd Roll topped with Crispy Dry Scallop (RM16). The Dim Sum are pretty good despite being a pork free restaurant. Although some people might insist good Dim Sum must contains pork but Wan Chun Ting has definitely done a great job with their Dim Sum here.
Soon after the Dim Sum, we had the Hot & Sour Soup (RM38) and Sea Cucumber and Fish Lips Soup (RM48). Both are thick broth type of soup, perhaps I should have ordered one clear soup instead but we did enjoy both as they were.
The finale and also the star of our lunch was the Peking Duck (RM168) with 2 styles serving. I loved the Peking Duck dish here at Wan Chun Ting and I’m glad that we don’t have to go all the way to Beijing (where I spent 2 years) just for this famous dish. The Peking Duck’s skins were first prepared by the staff at the side trolley, by rolling the crispy skins onto steamed Chinese pancakes, along with spring onions and sweet bean sauce. After we were done with the pancakes, the remaining of the duck meats were cooked into a tasty noodle dish.
Overall we had a wonderful dining experience at Wan Chun Ting, with the generally attentive service and sumptuous food. I’d definitely come back for the Peking Duck, and I also heard that they have another signature, Baked Traditional Beggar’s Chicken which warrant a try the next time.
A big thank you to Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara for hosting our lunch. As always, all opinions are my own and I only recommend services that I’d personally use.
