Best Seafood Restaurant at Bali Jimbaran Bay – Made Bagus Cafe
When in Bali, a sumptuous seafood meal is always expected since we are on a beautiful island. However, looking for a great seafood restaurant without breaking the bank might not be the easiest task. One of my favourite places to eat in Bali is Jimbaran Bay, where over 30 restaurants lined along the white sandy beaches. This part of Bali, where the fishing villages around Jimbaran Bay are located, are particularly famous for their seafood. This time around, we tried Made Bagus Cafe located behind Le Meridien Bali Jimbaran, slightly further away from the main strip of restaurants.
We took a Grab Car from Kuta Beach to Jimbaran Bay for Rp70k. Traffic was quite horrendous and we almost missed the sunset when we reached Made Bagus Cafe. The dining tables are scattered all over the beach, just pick a nice table facing the ocean and settle down quickly.
Top Tip: Try to get to Jimbaran Bay before sunset in order to enjoy the most beautiful moment on Bali Island.
The Seafood at Made Bagus Cafe
Menu from Made Bagus Cafe is quite simple, mainly listed in different seafood packages for 2 person with various pricing. We were hungry and ordered one of the “luxury” packages. For Rp525k (≈USD38), we had the Seafood Package B for 2 person with lobster, fish, squid satay, clams, king prawns and Bintang Beer (we swapped the rose wine for beer). There were other cheaper options from Rp200k (≈USD14) if you don’t want to splurge on lobster.
We loved the freshly barbecued seafood that served to our table. The lobster was huge and the fish was grilled to perfection. The king prawns and the clams were great too, although the squid satay was a little rubbery to chew. The local white rice is also served at the side which actually went quite well with the grilled seafood and sambal (Indonesian favourite hot chilli paste). Of course as always, the local Bintang Beer was the best companion for a lovely seafood on the beach while watching the tide rolls in.
Made Bagus Cafe and all the other seafood restaurant made up the busy strip of beachfront restaurants could be quite smoky as you could see from my pictures. This is still nonetheless one of the best ways to enjoy seafood on this beautiful island, due to its unique setting, cheaper pricing, beachfront location with amazing sunset viewing.
Getting There
Taxi is probably the best way to get to Jimbaran Bay, as they are extremely hostile toward the ride-hailing apps drivers from Grab and Go Jek. Some places even put up signs that forbid ride-hailing apps cars. Although we managed to get a Grab car to send us there, we were having a problem getting a ride back. However, with Grab’s in-app messenger, we were able to communicate with a driver who has agreed to pick us up further out at the road junction.
So have you tried the seafood at Jimbaran Bay in Bali? Tell me your favourite seafood restaurant here in Bali so that I could try the next time.

Oh my gosh we went to a restaurant in Bali with similar vibes. This is so nostalgic. Truly miss this incredible place. This restaurant looks wonderful.
This looks absolutely delicious! I’m just back from Jimbaran and gutted i missed it. One for my return trip for sure 🙂
I’m kind of bummed I missed this place when I was in Bali because my gosh it looks so good! Saving for hopes of returning and going there 🙂
Ah man, I wish I had read your post last week when I was in Bali! I was a bit worried about eating fish and things that go bad easily there, but everything looks so good and I bet it’s really fresh!
I would say you chose wisely on splurging for lobster. Sometimes, you just have to do it. I love all of the energy on the beach and just being able to watch the tide come in. We are about 6 months past moving off the beach and I still miss it. I really wanted to surf today for some odd reason. Funny that they are so hostile to ride sharing apps. Do you think the taxi drivers give them a little kick back?
Great tips! This reminds me of the hawker stands in Singapore, though pricier, for sure. I’m glad you shared tips on what to order. Sometimes I feel intimidated when I’m in a foreign place and am not sure how I’m supposed to order the food. It looks like a beautiful place to enjoy a sunset seafood dinner. I’ll make note for when I travel to Bali.
We didn’t make it to Jimbaran Bay last time in Bali. Seafood is always a good idea. I’m sure they are so fresh there. I will need to keep this place in mind!
