Best Luxury Hammam Spa in Kuala Lumpur – So SPA at Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara

During my weekend staycation at Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara (read my full review here), I had the chance to try their spanking new in-house spa, So SPA that was just opened 3 weeks ago. This is probably the most beautiful spa that I’d ever been too and I absolutely love the ultra chic design, especially the treatment rooms. Being the true luxury Hammam spa in Kuala Lumpur, you can choose to pamper yourself from a relaxing hammam session, enjoy steam therapy in the sauna, or even indulge in a local styled massage – Malay, Chinese or Indian – all infused with French expertise.

While Big Teddy had just 1-hour of their So Relaxing Massage (RM330 nett for 60 minutes) as he would get restless if the session is too long, I had the 2-hours So Hammam Ritual (RM590 nett for 120 minutes) which included a luxury hammam spa session and 1-hour full body oil massage.

So Hammam Ritual – A Truly Pampering Spa Session

Inspired by one of the oldest cleansing traditions in the world, the Hammam ritual is an experience of the Maghreb traditional treatments originated from North Africa, which purifies the skin with Savon Noir Beldi olive-rich black soap as well as the wrap that includes a body mask. After the cleansing ritual, a full body massage with tea elixir and Argan oil is followed to complete the rejuvenation journey.

By the time I finished, it was almost 2 and a half hour. It was such a wonderful and pampered experience, as the therapist was so well trained and precise. For girls who are shy, clothing is provided to protect your modesty including your chest area. Overall I found my therapist was very courteous throughout the whole process.

After the spa session, I was ushered to the lounge where light refreshments were served. There are also ample of space and privacy to relax if you choose to linger a little longer. I could have spent a good half day in the spa here by just enjoying the spa and relax afterwards.

So SPA at Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara has quite a comprehensive spa menu, offering not only body massages & body scrubs, also has facial, eye treatments, head or leg massages and many more. Therefore, if you’re looking for a luxury spa experience in Kuala Lumpur, check out So SPA at Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara! You will then find out what is a true luxury hammam spa is really like. 1. 2 1/2 hours is a great spa visit. It’s amazing how much time it takes to truly relax. Jenn introduced me to spa time when she was the lead at Ritz Carlton – Dove Mountain in Tucson. When we were at the Conrad Bangkok we were surprised the the modesty there. They had us put on a funky bathing suit like piece of clothing before the massage.

  2. The treatment room looks so beautiful! 2-hour Hammam ritual sounds wonderful and relaxing. I’ve never done it before but would be interested in giving it a try!

  3. Ohh I remember seeing pics of this spa from your main post and it looked so relaxing! I would love to have this right about now after spending days doing taxes. My mind and body needs a break.

  4. We’re overdue for some spa time, and your post is just the motivation I needed to start looking for places! Two hours of Hammam ritual sounds blissful. It’s so cool that you got to experience the spa only three weeks after it opened! 🙂
