Hokkaido 101 – Yumoto Niseko Prince Hotel Hirafutei @ Niseko

Yumoto Niseko Prince Hotel Hirafutei was our 1st hotel in Niseko and it was conveniently located within walking distance from the Hirafu Welcome Center bus stop where we were dropped off after taking the White Liner shuttle bus directly from Chitose Airport.
For ¥31,360 per night, we booked ourselves a half Japanease (living room) and half Western (double bed) styled room with private in-room onsen facing the beautiful Mount Youtei for our 1st 2 nights stay in Hirafu. The hotel is quite a traditional Japanese hotel, and the main reasons I chose this hotel were because it was a ski-in ski-out hotel in a prime location, and it has a private onsen (Japanese hot spring) in the room itself. The room might be dated but was spacious enough for the 2 of us with 2 big luggage. The private onsen was put to good use as it was snowing non stop when we were there and nothing better than to keep warm and relax after a full day out in the cold and snow than dipping in the hot spring. Also it was clean and functional, so I don’t have any complaints over the room.
The breakfast included with the room was good with mostly Japanese selections and some Western food. The service was overall okay although communications were a little off with the limited English speaking staff. We used the ski lockers provided for the hotel guests for our skiing sessions, with the family slope and chairlift located just right outside of hotel. Hence it was very easy to just get in and out of the slopes without much hassles. I really enjoyed the 1st night skiing experience during 1st night stay in Niseko, as the slopes were more quiet and I got to slowly warm up to skiing again.
Overall, it was a good ski hotel with convenient facilities and great location with many good restaurants within walking distance too. If you’re looking for a ski-in ski-out resort in upper Hirafu with private onsen in the hotel room, this is definitely the one to choose.
