Looking For Fresh Seafood Restaurant in KL? Try Southern Rock Seafood

Southern Rock Seafood is a hidden gem in the old part of Bangsar, serving fresh seafood from imported oysters, fish, mussels, clams and much more. So I took Big Teddy there recently for his birthday celebration dinner. The restaurant was quite full on a Saturday night and there was a party going on full swing in the other section of the restaurant. There’s a lot to choose from their menu, although quite a few items were out of stock already including some of the imported oysters that we wanted which was a little annoying. In the end, we settled for a dozen of Irish Premium Oysters (RM132+), Smoked Cod Croquette (RM22+), Pickled Herring (RM32+), Angel Hair Mussels Laksa (RM36+), Roasted Mixed Seafood (RM68+) and Herby Mashed Potato (RM10+).

For our starters, oysters were fresh, Pickled Herring was sourly addictive, and the Cod Croquette was extremely tasty with the tartar sauce. As for our main courses, my Angel Hair Mussels Laksa was light and aromatic, not the usual thick spicy Malaysian laksa that you’d normally expect. The broth was so good I used up all the bread that came with the dish. Meanwhile, Big Teddy’s Roasted Seafood was a celebration of different fresh seafood all on a plate. We also each had a big glass of Cloudy Bay Sauvignon white wine (RM46+) with our main course. The best dish however, in my opinion, was the Herby Mashed Potato, it was so creamy and delicious I wished I could have more!

Overall, the food was good and I loved the fact that all their seafood was fresh and that could be easily tasted from the all the food we ordered that night. Total bill for the night for 2 came up to RM489, not everyday dinner kind of price but worth it for Big Teddy’s birthday dinner. They also have quite a good deal for lunch with set lunch from RM28+ for 2 courses and 1 soft drinks. I would definitely come back for more~!
