The last time I went to Bali was in 2011 which was a long time ago. And this year because of business reasons, I got to go to Bali twice for organizing my company’s overseas convention. We had selected The Westin Nusa Dua as our event venue and the hotel was lovely. It’s location is secluded in Nusa Dua, which is the entire eastern side of the Bukit Peninsula at the southern tip of Bali with many high end hotels around. The hotel is quite near from the rather new Ngurah Rai International Airport, although further away from the usual tourist hotspots like Kuta, Seminyak and Ubud.
We went to recce the place before we brought over 400 of our colleagues from Malaysia over to Bali. One of the main reason we choose this hotel it’s because of its 433 newly refurbished guestrooms and suites which all feature the acclaimed Heavenly® Bed. That was about the highlight of throughout my stays in the hotel at 2 different rooms (1st stay at Deluxe Room and 2nd stay at Premium Room) as the bed was so good I just wanted to stay in bed the whole day, until all the scheduled meetings cruelly separate me from the Heavenly Bed. The room was great and much better than Le Meridien Phuket that our company went last year. The hotel itself is a little traditional and some might think it’s kinda old fashion when you first entered the lobby, but the rooms and amenities are more that enough to make up for it.
The 4 things that I loved the most about this hotel were the room, the extremely well covered WIFI connection within the entire hotel (not needing to switch to different access points even on the beach), Prego restaurant, the Heavenly Spa. Dining in the hotel is generally pleasant and Prego does do the job whenever I go to any Westin Hotel around the world. The private beach was clean although a little small, but the most annoying thing was that they charge extra fee for the nice canopy beds on the beach which I thought was ridiculous.
Nonetheless, I splurged on a spa treatment on the last day of my stay and spent Rp1,500,000 for a 90 minutes body scrubs and massage at Heavenly Spa and that was definitely the best spa treatment that I had in my life! Highly recommended for anyone who wants great spa experience in Bali.
Overall, it was a pleasant experience staying at the hotel and although we had some hiccups initially trying get our event planned out the way we wanted but in the end we pulled off a great event at the hotel. That’s the best part of organizing an overseas event which made me learnt new things by working with people from different country and cultures.
