When in Bali, people always tell you to go and try Babi Guling. I wasn’t really a fan when I had it the last time around at Ibu Oka so I thought 2nd time around I might learn to appreciate it better. Since we were so far away from the hustle and bustle in Nusa Dua, Pak Dobiel was the only choice for Babi Guling there. We went in a group early in the morning before the place was crowded and got ourselves served pretty quickly. I liked the spicy chili, the crispy pork skin and the pork meat, but not so much on the veggie bit and the innards. I wished I had more chili or like Ibu Oka there’s tub of chili at the side, rather than stealing chili from my friends who didn’t want spicy food. Overall, the food was satisfying but pricey. I think we were charged Rp50k per portion and was later told that the stall owners like to charge as they wish for the same food, i.e. Indonesia tourist charged at Rp35k and local Balinese only charged Rp15k-20k (but without soup). So, we being the foreign tourists were ripped off badly, just for Babi Guling…
