Food For Thought 241 – My Top 5 Favourite Asian Noodles in Kuala Lumpur

Best Food in Kuala Lumpur – My Top Picks for Noodles in Kuala Lumpur

Counting down my Top 5 favourite Asian noodles in Kuala Lumpur since I always love good noodle dish…

Number 1: Chili Pan Mee from Restoran Kin Kin @ Kampung Baru (full review click here)

This is my all time favourite noodle in the entire world. For RM7.50, you will get a bowl of dried thick round noodles topped with fried anchovies, chopped scallion, minced pork, and a perfect poached egg, with a tub of roasted chili on the table to be added to your bowl of noodle according to your taste. I love my noodle spicy so I’ll add lots and lots of chili (see pictures below), and because I have full control of how spicy I want my noodle to be, this place will always be on top of my favourite food list!

Number 2: Pork Noodle from GO Noodle House (full review click here)

My recent favourite is the pork noodle from GO Noodle House. Their special noodle, Mi Xian coupled with their Bursting Meat Balls (literally juice bursting in your mouth), and Fu Zhou Fish balls (pork meat as filling of smooth fish ball) are my favourites. Of course the star of the show is their in house chili, which is extremely spicy and totally fit my craving for very spicy food.

This chilli is fiesty too

Number 3: Hailam Meehoon from Yut Kee Restaurant

My usual breakfast place, Yut Kee Restaurant serves the best fried noodle in town. Laced with pork lard and a side of spicy chili (I’ll always ask for 2 extra chili), this fried meehoon is my 3rd favourite noodle in town with just RM7. The noodle can be a little oily but i absolutely love the texture of the meehoon mixed with their chili.

Once a week I’ll have this for breakfast

Number 4: Bukkake Soba from Kampachi Pavilion

Next on my list is the non spicy cold Bukkake Soba from Kampachi Pavilion. It’s a cold buckwheat noodle dish with sesame sauce and tempura bits for about RM35. The Japanese sesame sauce is so good and addictive sometimes I wish there’s more of the noodle as I could eat a lot more of the noodle in one serving…

Although this is not spicy ut it is so addictive

Number 5: Kim Lian Kee Hokkien Mee (金莲记福建面) (full review click here)

Kim Lian Kee Hokkien Mee is the pride of Malaysian hawker food, it is a family business that has been passed down through four generations.  I particularly love the stall at Lot 10 Hutong Heritage Food Village which I often visit. They still cooked it using the coal fire instead of gas fire, hence the noodle has a very nice smoky taste intensified by its pork lards over the noodles for just over RM11. Of course I’d add a lot of the fresh cut chili and the sambal to my hokkien mee as well…
