Ante at 1 Utama is the relatively new outlet from the original Solaris Dutamas. Famous for their pork dishes, I had visited their Solaris Dutamas restaurant a few time. Since we were in 1 Utama quite frequently, we decided to check out this new outlet located at the new wing next to La Senza. The 1st time we went during Valentine’s Day for brunch, we ordered the tasting platter (RM38++) which had quite a few different bits served on the plate for two. We also ordered the Tomasco soup (RM14++) to try and it was very good. Big Teddy had Norwegian Salmon (RM52++) and I had their signature Pork Diane (RM42++). I totally loved the pork dish with the creamy mushroom sauce, they are perfect together!

Our 2nd visit last week turned out to be a slight disaster. Big Teddy ordered his Bacon on Toast (RM23++), he also added poached eggs and salsa as additional sides but they took forever to come long after he had finished his bacon on toast. The manager told us that they have a new chef in the kitchen who kept screwing up the poached eggs, in the end they even offered a complimentary spaghetti bolognese on top of the sides that eventually came after a long long while. Well we were unfortunate with the sides but at least the manager made up for their mistake and we are cool with that.
I got lucky with my Char Siu Curry Cream Pasta (RM33++) which came swiftly after our order. It was quite tasty with creamy sauce running through the pasta. I’m usually a sucker for creamy type of pasta, which I tend to indulge every here and then, sometimes too frequent I think… But what the heck these are all great food so I’ll just enjoy them.
Overall, the food was good at Ante 1 Utama. However, the service and kitchen standards must buck up quickly in order to continue to keep people coming back. Teething issues for new restaurant might be unavoidable but nowadays people are quite unforgiving too. Having said all that, I’m still a forgiving person and will come back for another pork dish soon…
