Best Luxury Resort in Putrajaya – Putrajaya Marriott Hotel
Opened in 2003 and recently renovated, Putrajaya Marriott Hotel is probably the largest 5-star luxury hotels within Putrajaya vicinity. It has 380 elegant and spacious guest rooms, 73 Executive rooms and 35 exclusive suites. It was a good 40-45 minutes drive from downtown Kuala Lumpur to the hotel with the usual traffic jam although it’s only about 30km away. Located within the integrated township of IOI Resort City, Putrajaya Marriott Hotel offers a great resort style hospitality in this neck of the woods.
The Room
We checked into a Deluxe Room with 430 square feet of space. The room is fresh with relatively new pieces of furniture and clean design. It was spacious with a lovely daybed next to the window. All rooms in Putrajaya Marriott Hotel are well equipped with the 300 thread count sheets from Revive® Bedding Collection, a large LED television with satellite channels, personal in-room safe, steam iron and ironing board.
Meanwhile, the bathrooms are with a separate bathtub and glass shower cubicle, although the one we stayed wasn’t extensively refreshed compared to the bedroom. I loved the bathroom amenities which are all Thann products (my favourite brand from Thailand). The hair conditioner made my hair so soft that I was definitely having a good hair day during my stay there.
Dim Sum Lunch at Summer Palace
After checking into the room, we had our 1st meal at the Summer Palace, the Chinese restaurant in the hotel serving Cantonese and fusion Chinese cuisines. For RM88 per person (min 2 person’s order), we got to try quite a few dishes on their Dim Sum Set Menu.
The deep fried Salmon Fish Skin with Salted Egg Yolk is clearly the crowd’s favourite as the entree. The Hot & Sour Szechuan Soup is also good for a spicy lover like me. The most intriguing part of the lunch was the Dim Sum Combination where we were served Steamed Squid Ink Prawn Dumpling with Black Truffle, Pan Fried Chicken Siew Mai with Teppanyaki Sauce & Fish Roe, as well as the Deep Fried Crispy Beancurd Roll with Prawns & Cheese. Summer Palace has nailed the fusion Dim Sum almost perfectly (I only didn’t quite like the Steamed Seafood Dumpling with Japanese Pumpkin).
The other star of the lunch was the Cantonese Style Fried Flat Noodles & Crispy Vermicelli with Seafood & Egg Sauce. It was so delicious that I wished I could have more! We ended the 8-course lunch with the extremely addictive Baked Lemon Cheese Tart and Avocado Puree (an interesting yet yummy interpretation of the popular Chilled Mango Puree with Sago & Pomelo).
Since the Mooncake Festival is just around the corner, we were also treated to sample a wide selection of different mooncakes by Summer Palace, which included the Malaysian’s favourite Musang King Durian Mooncake in Snow Skin. They also have some very unique flavours such as the Golden Bean with Black Sesame in Gold Dust Mooncake, as well was Snow Skin Matcha & Red Bean Paste and Charcoal Snow Skin Coffee & Butter Milk Paste
.
Dinner at Tuscany
As for dinner, we tried the award-winning Tuscany Italian-American Restaurant. Since there were 8 of us, we shared 2 signatures pizzas and 2 desserts, while having our own main dishes. Big Teddy was being greedy and had the fried calamari (RM40) as a starter as well. I had the signature beef ribs (RM92) as my main and the portion was huge! The meat was cooked to perfection and the meat just fell off the bone. Coupled with the tangy bbq sauce, the beef rib is one of my favourite dishes of the night. Big Teddy loves fish dishes so he had the pan-fried skillet of seabass (RM71) which he loved too. Tuscany’s pizzas (RM42-RM52) were very good too with generous toppings and crispy crusts. The Classic Tiramisu Cake (RM38) was also quite addictive and I loved the taste and texture of the cake. Tuscany provided extra entertainment with its resident double bass and guitar singing dual who serenaded us with some oldies.
All Day Dining at Zest
Breakfast and weekend hi-tea buffet are served at Zest Lifestyle Restaurant. The buffet breakfast selections are great with its Malay and Indian corner stood out the most. I was told to try the make to order Roti Tissue which did not disappoint. The Western corner was not as vast choices as the local dishes, but overall more than enough for a satisfying breakfast.
We also tried the weekend Hi-Tea Buffet (RM88 per person) which only available on Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 4pm. The buffet selections are different from the breakfast spreads, with more main dishes to choose from. Again I fell for their Indian curry and rice dishes, and prefer it over the pasta dish which I also tried.
Other Dining Options at Putrajaya Marriott Hotel which we didn’t get to try were the Midori Japanese Restaurant, Lobby Lounge and d’Oracle Coffee Lounge. I heard Midori is one of the best Japanese restaurant in Putrajaya and perhaps I’ll get to try it another time.
Dewi Teratai Spa
Another highlight of our stay in Putrajaya Marriott Hotel apart from all the delicious food was Dewi Teratai Spa, the full-service spa by Tranquillity Spa & Wellness (largest spa chain in Nepal). I never knew about Nepalese massages until I discovered Dewi Teratai Spa. Big Teddy and I were treated to the signature Himalayan Massage which was absolutely fantastic and relaxing. The Nepalese massage technique is quite different from the usual Thai or Malay massage, as it is more soothing and relaxing. I wished my 1-hour massage could last forever as I felt so refreshed after the session. So, if you haven’t try Nepalese massage before, you must try it at the Dewi Teratai Spa.
Other Facilities – Swimming Pool, Fitness Centre, Meeting & Events, Children’s Playroom, Executive Lounge
Being a 5-star resort hotel, Putrajaya Marriott Hotel has all the facilities on site, which included the beautiful lagoon shaped swimming pool, Executive Lounger, Fitness Centre and a well-equipped children’s playroom, Kiddies World. Moreover, given the huge space available at the hotel, Putrajaya Marriott Hotel also features a large ballroom which seats up to 3000 people, as well as over 15 smaller conference rooms catering for different events. I just recently attended my colleague’s wedding dinner here at the ballroom and was happy with the banquet dinner food.
Instagram Worthy Spots Within the Hotel
Since the hotel is designed with the influence of Mediterranean and Moorish architecture in mind, there are some great Instagram worthy spots within the compound. Therefore, come to explore and use your imaginations to create your own cool Instagram posts here in Putrajaya Marriott Hotel.
Getting Around
Since this was a staycation, we drove from Kuala Lumpur to the hotel. Car parking was ample and complimentary for hotel guests. Being located next to IOI City Mall, Putrajaya Marriott Hotel has a free shuttle to the shopping mall (but not back to the hotel). We did drive to the mall just to pick up some stuff and it was easy.
The proximity to Putrajaya also makes the hotel a convenient place for those who are looking for a day trip to Putrajaya for cycling or sightseeing. We also did a morning bike ride at Putrajaya Presint 2 and it was just a short drive from the hotel.
For avid golfers, Palm Garden Golf Club, the 18-hole championship golf course in IOI Resort City is also just down the road from the hotel, which also makes Putrajaya Marriott Hotel a good place to stay if you want to play golf for the weekend.
Final Thoughts on Putrajaya Marriott Hotel
Spacious is probably the best word to describe Putrajaya Marriott Hotel. The high ceilings in the lobby and the grand staircase in the hotel are not often found in most hotels in Malaysia. I also love the many dining options available at the hotel, as well as the wonderful spa experience at Dewi Teratai Spa. The location of the hotel is also perfect for a weekend staycation away from the busy city of Kuala Lumpur. Big Teddy and I have soft spot for Putrajaya and we always enjoy a morning cycling or stroll around that neighbourhood on weekends.
Overall, it was a relaxing staycation at Putrajaya Marriott Hotel, great for couples and families looking to unwind from the daily chaos in the city. So if you’re looking for a resort style getaway or staycation, Putrajaya Marriott Hotel could be a nice choice away from the hustle and bustle.

I love Putrajaya Marriott hotel-! I’ll take them any day over cookie cutter ones. The food looks so delish! I’m a fan of all things peach so this hotel has already won me over with the Stone Fruit French Toast.
I love the dimsum! Used to go there for my personal occasion.
The dim sum was very decent indeed!
