Hokkaido 113 – Hotel Monterey Sapporo @ Sapporo

Where to Stay in Sapporo? Check out Hotel Monterey Sapporo

After Niseko, we took the White Liner Ski Bus to Sapporo. After 2 hours ride, we got off at the Sapporo JR Station and walked to Hotel Monterey Sapporo which was just around the corner. This European-themed hotel has 250 rooms with mocked Victorian inspired bedroom, covered with British green stripe wallpaper. It might not be everyone’s taste, but I did find the room has its own charm.

For RM614 (≈ USD136) a night, we spent 2 nights here while exploring Sapporo, the largest city of Hokkaido island. Our standard double room was functional with a king bed, spacious enough for 2 of large suitcases to lay in the room while we repacked everything before our flight home. The only con was the staff didn’t speak good English enough to understand some of our questions. Anyway, the location is very convenient where we could walk almost everywhere, from the Sapporo JR Station to the Sapporo Snow Festival, to the fish market, even to the Sapporo Brewery, all within walking distance from the hotel.

Overall, it was a good stay at the Hotel Monterey Sapporo, I love their clean and functional rooms, as well as the accessible location which made our stay in Sapporo city a memorable one. So next time if you plan to visit Sapporo, do check out this hotel. Or if you have a better choice, do let me know too.
