Looking for best sushi in Kuala Lumpur? Try Oribe Sushi…
Sushi Oribe (寿司 織部) is a relatively new fine dining sushi restaurant located at ViPod Residences near KLCC since late 2014. Over the 1 year I’d been staying at Vipod Residences, I didn’t get to try the place downstairs of where I stayed until the last few weeks before we moved out from there. I booked a dinner for 2 on Big Teddy’s birthday last month and requested for the seating at the sushi counter as it had the best view to see the sushi master chefs in action. The whole restaurant was served by only 2 sushi master chefs, which we totally enjoyed all the fine details in preparation of all our food right in front of us. I went with the Mino set (RM198++ for Appetizer, Steamed Egg Custard, Chef’s Speciality Sushi 13Pcs, Roll Sushi, Miso Soup, Dessert) and Big Teddy went for the bigger Oribe set (RM350++ for Appetizer, Sashimi, Steamed Egg Custard, Grilled Dish, 2 Side Dishes, Sushi 7 Pcs, Miso Soup, Dessert) since it’s his birthday and he wanted to celebrate. Menu and price are available online at their website so check it out yourself for the latest update.
The dinner was impeccable with the amount of details and works went into preparing each and every piece of the sushi, it was like watching an art performance throughout the whole night. Our sushi chef Nao was patient to explain each and every piece of sushi and other dishes to us, informing us the type of fish and how best to enjoy every single one of them. The quality of the fish on the sushi was so fresh and good, they literally melt in your mouth. No soy sauce is needed for sushi that was so fresh as they fly their fish all the way from Japan. Half way through the dinner I was already dreaming about the free flow of sushi that would never end…
Anyway dreaming aside, the restaurant was kind enough to throw in complimentary Japanese melon and mixed fruit platter with a candle for Big Teddy’s Birthday. We had a really enjoyable (expensive too) dinner at the end of the night and happily walked upstairs to our condo That was (but no longer is) the perk of staying so close in KLCC…
