Big Teddy and I went to Krabi for my birthday getaway in April and spent 3 nights at the 5 star Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort (now known as Dusit Thani Krabi Beach Resort from 1st July 2015 onwards). Located at the quiet Klong Muong beach away from the busy Ao Nang strip. It was one of the most relaxing trip that I had in a long while. The 240 rooms resort far exceeded my expectations for the THB12,819.60  (about RM1,500) that we paid for the rooms, which included Daily Buffet Breakfast For 2, 30% Discount On Spa And Dining, 20% Discount On Private Krabi Airport Transfer and Free High Speed Internet. We used the private airport transfer which was excellent for THB 960 after discount and from there we mainly stayed in the resort throughout our stay and got our elephant hiking trip (THB1,440 for 2 pax) and half day island hopping tour (THB2,160 for 2 pax) sorted out at the hotel tour desk. They also provide a shuttle van with a small fee (THB250 per pax per round trip) to Ao Nang Beach which is 10 minutes drive away. The restaurants were very good and we loved Malati’s blend of Thai and Indian cuisines the most. We also tried the Mandara Spa which were good but on the pricey side (THB4,449 for 2 pax after discount on 1 hour aroma therapy massage). The pools and 24 hours gym were fantastic too. The only downside was the beach which was less than impressive than a lot of other places that I’d been, but I was more than happy to just hang around the resort. My SPG membership also gave me some perks like complimentary cocktails and because they delivered the birthday cake a day later, the resort gave me a free bottle of sparkling wine as well and lots of rose petals on the bed. Overall, it was a lovely resort but sadly a new management from Dusit Thani is going to take over the resort and rename it from July onwards. I hope it still remains a great resort after leaving Starwood…
