Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside Hotel

Last month, our company has an event at Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside Hotel which I spent 3 days 2 nights. This hotel is located about 45 minutes from Kuala Lumpur in the heart of Putrajaya, the  federal government administrative center. Since our government had spent billions in building this city, we expect nothing less from the landscape and structure from this isolated 5-star hotel.
It was quite a long drive from KL or PJ to this hotel, and so long you sick to Presint 5 road sign, you should be able to find the hotel just right across the Tourism Ministry office and by the lake. The hotel has 281 rooms with Malay, Chinese, Indian and Borneo distinct elements in each 4 of the hotel wings. The room given to me was at the Malay Wing, also known as the Bunga Tanjung Wing.

This is the room at Bunga Tanjung Wing, quite small actually but comfy enough for short stay. However, the room was quite badly maintained as our room door was so difficult to open and close, the shower head was horrible with water coming out at all over the wrong place, tap was loose and hot water were inconsistent, parquet floor was uneven and worn out. For such a fairly new hotel (less than 3 years old), this property is definitely ill-maintained. I was disappointed with the room conditions and we tried requesting for a new room but in the end decided to stick back to this room for convenience sake. The only thing I did like about the room was the bed, which was nice and soft with 2 if pillows (maybe I was too tired both nights and felt like the bed was heaven at the end of the day). The room came with complimentary broadband access (Ethernet port), and limited free WIFI access at certain area of the hotel.

In short, the hotel was better looking from the outside than its inside. Their rooms definitely need some work done, I would definitely not pay over RM350+ for such a badly maintained hotel room (luckily my company paid for it). Food was quite average too as we tried the buffet dinner and breakfast. No way any good service could make up for the bad room condition, especially when there are absolutely nothing around the hotel within walking distance.
