Midnight Shopping in Seoul – Dongdaemun Market
Dongdaemun Market is the famous fashion wholesale market in Seoul, which turns to life only at night until the early morning. With over 26 shopping malls situated over 10 blocks (map as below), Dongdaemun market has everything from silks and fabric, clothes, shoes and leather goods, sporting goods, plumbing and electronics, office supplies, fortune tellers, toys and food areas specialising in Korean cuisine.
We barely covered 10% of the shops there in a night, only managed to quick browse through some of the malls. Most of the items there were quite expensive, unlike Taipei’s Wu Fen Pu or Bangkok’s Platinum Mall, but I must say that their workmanship and style were way above Taipei or Bangkok. Although it was the price that I didn’t quite want to spend, still I managed to buy a few dresses that I found myself too hard to resist. Perhaps the next time when I return to this place I’d come with far loaded wallet than the last trip, then my shopping experience in Dongdaemun market would be enhanced far better. ^o^
Useful information about the market: Most stores opens from 10.30pm til 5am, but close on Monday and holidays.
