Top Things To Do in Paris – Palais Garnier
Palais Garnier is the most beautiful place I’d seen in Paris. Built between 1861 – 1875 for the Paris Opera, this 1,979 seat opera house is probably the most famous opera house in the world. From the magnificent Grand Foyer to the Grand Staircase and its famous Chagall ceiling inside the auditorium, you can see it with just €11 per adult.

We got there early in the morning but there were still quite a fair bit of tourists inside, as you can see from the crowded Grand Staircase picture above. We didn’t follow a guide so we just went wander around on our own.

My favourite part of Opera House, the Grand Foyer. Last restored in 2004, this hall 18 meters high, 154 meters long and 13 meters wide was designed to act as a drawing room for Paris society. Its ceiling was painted by Paul-Jacques-Aimé Baudry and represents various moments in the history of music. This Grand Foyer is jawdroppingly extravagant and I absolutely love everything about it, from the ceiling to the pillars and of course the 2 rows of chandeliers. We spent so much time there trying to capture the best pictures (with the least crowd possible), so please enjoy the rest of the post filled with the amazingly beautiful pictures inside the Palais Garnier. A must see in Paris and I’m so glad that I’d seen it!

Such a beautiful building. It speaks of guided Paris and elegant nights out in the world’s most romantic city. I would love to watch an Opera there, perhaps Beethoven’s Fidelio.
