When one in Osaka, you must try the local special food, Okonomiyaki (お好み焼き), which is a Japanese savoury pancake containing a variety of ingredients. We had this Japanese at Messe Kuma (めっせ熊) located at Umesan Kouji (Food street between Hearton Hotel Nishi Umeda and Osaka JR Station) right next to our hotel in Osaka. It was a simple food, with batter made out of flour, yam, eggs, shredded cabbage, onions, meat, cheese etc all cooked together, later topped with sweet sauce and mayonnaise.
We ordered the standard one with egg and pork for ¥950, also another Yakisoba (fried japanese buckwheat noodle) for ¥880. It was a simple breakfast for the 3 of us so these 2 dishes were enough to be shared among 3 girls. But I have to say the Okonomiyaki was very delicious and addictive, especially with the sweet sauce in every bite. Definitely a must try Osaka staple~!
