Our first night in Siem Reap started with a walk and dinner at Pub Street across the street from our hotel. Pub Street. A vibrant drinking scene concentrated along Street 8, better known as Pub Street, is the center of nightlife in Siem Reap, mainly for cheap drinks and dinner, like the Bangkok’s Khao San Road, but nowhere as vibrant as Bangkok.
It’s quite a small area with so it didn’t take long for us to take a stroll down the pub street, checking out what is there for us to explore. Since it was our first night here, we decided to treat ourselves to some local delights at Khmer Kitchen Restaurant, a restaurant known for its local Khmer dishes located in the alley of Pub Street. The restaurant was full when we were there and waited a while to get our table. The service was alright and we got our order taken without a hitch, food came quickly after. I like the fried pork ribs the most, the fried chili and basil with minced beef tasted alright but not memorable, and I found the Khmer Curry was too sweet to many taste. I missed really spicy stuff but didn’t get much luck in Siem Reap.
Overall, it was a simple, no fuss dinner with some local food accompanied by local beer. Price ranges from USD3-USD5 per dish.
