Best Sunset Dinner in Bali – Kisik Bar and Grill

During our stay at Ayana Resort and Spa in Bali, we had a wonderful sunset dinner at Kisik Bar and Grill on my birthday. We made earlier table reservation even before we were in Bali, just to make sure we would have the best possible table for such special day.

After we checked into our room, we had a round of drinks first at the Rock Bar, which is right next to Kisik Bar and Grill, before making our way to the lovely restaurant. The restaurant was nice enough to arrange a corner table for us facing the open sea with an unobstructed view of the beautiful sunset. The sun was slowly setting as we enjoyed the lovely view at our table.

The menu at Kisik Bar and Grill was simple, with its open counter displaying every day’s best catches and seafood baskets for the diners to choose from. Most of the seafood here is sold by weight, so you could easily choose whatever that best fits your appetite and budget. We ordered quite a few items from the fresh seafood counter, from 2 large seafood skewers (IND440k ++), a dozen of oysters (IND360k++) and a mud crab (IND455k++), as well as a dozen of satays (IND175k++) to start.

Tips: The Giant Seafood Skewers or the Seafood Baskets are great value items to pick.

Bon Appetit – Dinner Is Served

Once we were done with our orders, Kisik Bar and Grill served the complimentary appetizer, Indonesian salad called Gado Gado, which is a mixture of fresh vegetables smothered in a light peanut sauce. Then followed by a seafood bouillabaisse soup, before our ordered dishes were dished out. White rice was also available to go along with our cooked seafood dishes.

Overall, the food at Kisik Bar and Grill was enjoyable. The seafood was fresh and the portions were large. I loved the seafood skewers and the satays most of all the dishes, as the meats were tender and juicy. The chilli mud crab was just okay to my taste as I’d tried better cooking style. For dessert, the restaurant gave us a lovely complimentary piece of Red Velvet Cake with candles for me to make my birthday wish. Our final bill came up to IND2.38 million (≈US$178) with lots of food, cocktails, beer and wine. It was a lovely birthday meal on that special day and I absolutely enjoyed it, thanks to Big Teddy! Xoxo

Tips: The restaurant is alfresco setting so do dress light in order not to let the sweats ruin the dinner.

  1. Wow that view is incredible. Definitely a great place for a celebratory dinner. All the food sounds great, especially the skewers. So nice that they sent out the complimentary birthday cake too – even with your name!

  2. Red Velvet Cake is my favorite kind of cake and I HAVE to order it everytime I come across a vegan version. So good. The views from the restaurant are enough for me – so pretty!

  3. This is such a wonderful place to celebrate dinner! You’ve got the best seat to enjoy sunset too. I’m sure the seafood tasted super fresh, but the chicken satay looks soooo good too!

  4. The view from your table is STUNNING. And it was your birthday, no less! I want those chicken satay and the seafood skewers… mmm… now I’m going to eat brunch 🙂
