PS150 – Nice Hidden Cocktails Bar in Kuala Lumpur
Hidden behind a faux toy shop in Chinatown Kuala Lumpur, or better known as Petaling Street, PS150 is the swanky hip bar that many cocktail lovers cherish. This row of shops was used to be brothel, house and warehouse, now the vintage darlings for a perfect speakeasy cocktail bar.
Divided into 3 spaces, this dimly lit bar is the place to go if you fancy some nice cocktails. Push open the first door, ‘Vintage’, which is the Pre-Prohibition era is the 1st space set up in vintage single booths. This is the quieter place to have more of a private conversation away from the hustling background noise of people in a bar.
The next space is ‘Tiki’ which is the Post-War era, which is a bigger and more open space with greens climbing across the walls.
Last but not least is the main bar, and it is called ‘Contemporary’ which is the Revival era. The neon-lit “Petaling Street” sign in Chinese is the most pictured part of PS150. This room is the liveliest, noisiest and the most crowded (probably because it’s air-conditioned too). Table reservations are highly recommended if you want a space of your own, else you will likely be standing through the night. PS150’s cocktail menu here is divided into five eras much like the 3 spaces in the bar: Vintage (1850s-1910s), Classic (1920s-1930s), Tiki (1940s-1960s), Disco (1970s-2000s) and Contemporary (late 2000s-present). I personally love the ‘Asam Boi Margarita’ from the Classic menu, a sweet & sour margarita combo with strong & long finishing. Here, most of their signature cocktails price around RM40 each and trust me they are worth it because they are very strong doses of cocktails.

OOOH this place looks so cool! I love places like this. Speakeasy bars are a lot of fun! Take me next time I head to KL!
I love the concept of a tiered bar setup with different vibes for your different moods. It’s funny how the old brothels are hip now since the are usually near city center. In San Diego, the Gas Lamp Quarter is our premier city scene but, due to the proximity to the piers, this has been a red light district for the vast majority of its life. Now, it’s a hopping, hip social scene.
I love the concept of this bar and how it is divided into different eras. The cocktail menu is intriguing. I’d love to try a drink from each era and compare the taste!
This place sounds so interesting! I love to find hidden bars like this, that only the locals seem to know about. It makes a trip so much more fun when you can experience unique places like this.
I’d say you’ve really got these KL destinations down. Who would’ve known they would have such a hip little speakeasy kind of place?
This bar looks great, love the dim lights and the atmosphere! Thank you for sharing!
Do check it out and let me know what you think ok?
I love the speakeasy concept! And the fact this bar is in buildings that were a brothel and warehouse is so perfect. Add a good people vibe and great cocktails — makes for a great evening.
