We went to Ao Nang beach the 2nd night we were in Krabi using the resort’s shuttle van. I picked Lay Lay Grill as our sunset dinner venue since it gathered quite good review on TripAdvisor. It was a short walk from the busy Ao Nang beach and they even have a shuttle van at the tiny foothill to fetch people up the not so tall hill where the restaurant is located. The key selling point of this restaurant is the amazing panoramic view of the sunset and the entire beach. Ambiance at the restaurant was great although the alfresco dining setting might get hot and stuffy if it wasn’t windy enough. The service was attentive and our food came swiftly after ordering. We over ordered again as usual for 2 person and the food got cold fast because there was a fan blowing right at our table. To be honest, the food was alright but nothing impressive. I had some high hope on the baked whole lobster but it turned out to be quite bland. Overall it was just okay dinner but the awesome sunset view made up for most of the night. We spent THB4,250 for 2 person on food and 2 rounds of alcoholic beverage. Not really cheap for my ideal Thailand standard given the food was overall average, but if you never try you will know right?
