Bến Thành Market is the most famous and a huge marketplace in the downtown area of District 1,Hồ Chí Minh. The market is one of the earliest surviving structures in Saigon and one of landmarks of Hồ Chí Minh City. Every tourist will definitely visit this market as part of the travel itinerary when they are in Ho Chi Minh as it is the best place to look for local food, handicrafts, textiles, áo dài, and souvenirs. 

Our hotel was just around the corner of Bến Thành Market so we had plenty of time to check out the market in the day and night. The main market is only opens in the day and closes around 6pm. At night, the roads around the market will be turned into a night markets with stalls surrounding the main market building. The market is filled with stuff to buy, and could be overwhelming for some. I had a walk around to check out some of the local stuff like clothing, lacquer ware, snacks etc. I liked and bought snacks, nuts and coffee selling at the market, but overall I didn’t spend much money there. The fashion was quite out of my taste and I’m not really a fan of lacquer ware. Nonetheless, I also bought some fashion accessories there too and that’s just about the only shopping I did in the market apart from the usual snacks and food.
It was an good place to check out what Ho Chi Minh has to offer and to get some local snacks, but since it is a tourist attractions, some of the stuff could be overpriced. So, shop at your own risk….
