Penang 103 / Food For Thought 233 – ChinaHouse @ Georgetown

ChinaHouse is the perfect place for retro junkies where food, drinks, art and live music come together under one roof. I still wasn’t feeling well when we went there for lunch. We waited a while for table on a Monday afternoon. The ambiance was nice with different sections of the restaurants in the old long Georgetown shop house. However, the service was quite slow when the place was crowded. The menu was also a little confusing to browse as they have different kitchens serving different food. We had the Soup of the Day (RM10.60) to start. Then I forced to order something easy to eat, a Thai styled pasta dish with grilled chicken (RM34) which I couldn’t finish due to my food poisoning from the day before. The waiters and manager were quite concerned about the leftover, and kept asking if the pasta was alright. Well, it tasted alright I reckoned but my stomach just couldn’t take it still. Big Teddy had ordered some teriyaki chicken sandwich but they gave the Chicken Schnitzel Sandwich (RM38) which is a less healthier version instead. It was overall an okay lunch. The huge selection of cakes looking tempting but we didn’t have any room left in our stomach for some sweets. Next time perhaps?
