Food For Thought 230 – Bakar by BIG

Bakar by BIG is a relatively new restaurant tucked away in a hidden part of old Bangsar opened earlier this year. The restaurant is small, and it was an impromptu dinner choice as I called the place on a busy Friday night and managed to squeezed in 2 person at the bar table last minute. It was full house as there were 2 big tables having gathering and birthday party. We splurged on 3 courses each and ordered quite a few dishes to try. Since Big Teddy is watching what he was eating so we both chose fish as our main courses. I loved the Grilled Watermelon as appetizer as the taste combination was great with sweet and saltiness ran through it. The Scottish Salmon was alright with the wasabi infused soy sauce. The service was attentive but food came very slowly and they forgot about my main course even Big Teddy had long finished his food. That was the only minus for the night but both our fish dishes came out perfect. I loved the char on the fish and the nicely marinated meat that grilled to flawlessness. We ended our dinner with Grilled Pineapple and their signature Charcoal Pavlova. The Grilled Pineapple was pale in comparison compared to the Charcoal Pavlova and we both loved the Charcoal Pavlova more than the other one. It was a fantastic (and LONG) dinner indeed after a good 2 and a half hour. Lovely place and reservation is highly recommended to avoid disappointment as this place is small. Will return soon for more charcoal grilled food~!
