Food For Thought 197 – Fatboy’s The Burger Bar @ Publika

At last I went to Fatboy’s after a long overdue visit to try their burgers in September. C and I had been on Burger hunt over the weekends and Fatboy’s was perfect for us since we both had not been to the restaurant yet. When we arrived at the restaurant at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon, it was still quite packed with people. C ordered her Bushtucker Burger (beef patty, arugula, bacon, emmenthal cheese, beets and garlic aioli on whole wheat bun) and added Shitake mushroom to it, while ordered my Jamaican Me Hungry Burger (Jerk seasons bacon stuffed pork patty topped with bacon, sundried tomatoes, coleslaw and smothered with mayonnaise on sesame
seed bun) and added fried egg to it. I also ordered a Root Beer Float to go with my burger. I couldn’t remember when was the last time I had a Root Beer Float although it has always been one of my favourite soft drinks.

Restaurant is located right across the open air stage area a.k.a. Publika Square

I always love root beer float (RM9.00++)
Our burgers took a while to be served, and the portion was just alright, not as big as I’d expected. I’d seen bigger portion at the Daily Grind at the same price range. My pork burger was tender and juicy, the combination of coleslaw and extra chili sauce that I added made it a mouthful of sweet and spicy taste to the tongue. C’s Bushtucker looked really green with the stufed wild arugula I couldn’t say I’m a fan of green.

Overall, I’d said Fatboy’s specialty burgers menu are very different and experimental with wide selection of ingredients and combination. If you couldn’t find anything you like on the specialty menu, you could always DIY your own burger, but the price will be higher of course. However, I couldn’t say I was impressed with Fatboy’s burger, I think I liked myBurgerLab and The Daily Grind’s burgers better if I’m paying RM20-30 for a burger. But Fatboy’s will still make my Top 5 burger joints in KL… for the time being…
