My annual reunion dinner is always filled with home cooked meals by my mum. She could actually cooked all those food on her own. I wish one day I would learn at least 10% of her cooking skills as I’m a absolutely dummy in terms of cooking. As a Hainanese (海南人）, we could not leave out the Steamed Chicken （百斩鸡）from the menu as it is traditionally a Hainanese food. Most importantly, all the family members would gather together, especially this year where my lil sis flew back from Beijing after working overseas since last May. That’s why a Chinese New Year’s reunion dinner carries the heaviest weight in this festive season.
