Beijing 122 – The Palace of Prince Gong a.k.a Gong Wang Fu (恭王府)

The Palace of Prince Gong a.k.a Gong Wang Fu (恭王府) is Beijing’s best kept and biggest courtyard/Si He Yuan (四合院) which used to be the home to He Shen (和珅- the biggest corrupted officer of Qing Dynasty) and subsequently the home to Prince Gong (恭亲王). We took a trishaw from He Hua Shi Chang (荷花市场) to get to the palace and almost fell into the tourist scam where people wanted to sell us expensive tickets to enter the palace. Luckily we quickly went around the area and found the entrance gate with a normal ticket selling counter. It cost us RMB30 per pax to enter the palace and there was already a huge crowd inside. The palace has a very nice garden which I think it’s better than the Forbidden City’s emperor’s garden. My sis and I spent the most time in the garden and the courtyard posing and taking pictures of each other, and we had great fun doing just that.
